“Activate the aromatic power of your garden’s natural terpenes.”
If you’re looking for a versatile, organic, easy to use nutrient for your heavy-feeding plant varieties, Roots Organics: Terp Tea is the nute for you. We decided to test out this one-part grow and one-part bloom formula on our current batch of Citrus Cherry smokable hemp, and we couldn’t be happier with the results so far. The 7-1-1 Grow formula, which we tried first, is derived from sustainably-sourced bat guano, fish bone meal, langbeinite, kieserite, non-GMO soybean meal, feather meal, chicken manure, kelp meal, and dolomite. These ingredients are packed with nitrogen, which your plants need to push out lush vegitative growth. Additionally, it also contains microbial-boosting non-plant ingredients like humic acid, beneficial bacteria, and beneficial fungi, which help your plants actually access all that nitrogenous goodness.
There are two feeding styles you can use with Terp Tea. You can either mix it dry directly into your growing media during your initial planting so that it releases slowly throughout the growth period, or if you want a little more control, you can brew it into a tea and direct feed your plants.
We chose the controlled direct feeding method with our plants, so the day before we want to feed them, we mix 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water, and let that brew in an aerated solution overnight. The next day everything is all ready, so as soon as the lights come on and we open up the tent, the plants get their food! It’s that easy, and the slightest touch of a leaf fills the area with the juicy smells of a happy hemp plant.
We’re in the early flower stage right now and we just switched over to the 3-7-4 Terp Tea Bloom. We expect to see excellent results through the upcoming weeks with big buds coming soon. So if this interests you and you really want to activate the aromatic power of your garden’s natural terpenes, stop on by, check out the plants, and grab yourself a bag of Roots Organic: Terp Tea.

I have one last question I’ve been getting a ton of different answers. When do you stop using grow and switch to bloom im an outdoors guy so it makes it harder to follow a scedule. So basically do I start when the little white hairs pop out or when their are tiny buds forming.if you could answer that I would be grateful I spent an hour on YouTube and still don’t know if I have the correct info. Some say start when they pre flower others say when buds are size of dimes im confused help lol

Hey Tony, The teaspoon per gallon of soil is only if you are top dressing with it. For the best results, use a tsp per gallon of water that you are watering with. It’s easy to burn your plants by top dressing with that much at a time. — Ryan at FSG
ashley says
Hey Again Tony! We switch to flower nutrients indoors when we flip the light schedule. Outdoors is a little different. We’d start using the flower nutrients when you start to see the white pistils emerge. Typically 4-5 weeks after the Summer Solstice is when we see them develop, but that may vary, depending on where you are.

Do I ph the water to 6.6 is what I’ve been having no problems with and I would ph before adding the powder feed amd someone told me I need to add the feed into the water let sit over night than ph it to the level you want is that true or false thank you. PH WATER before or after adding the feeding powDER?
ashley says
Hi Mark,
I always pH after adding the nutrients because nutrients can change the pH level. I also never let it sit overnight (though you can do this if you are trying to evaporate any chlorine in the water). Hope that helps! — Ryan at FSG
Mark says
Hello there. Once in flower, at what frequency do you feed with the Bloom Terp Tea? Once a batch of tea is brewed, do you use X amount of tea and cut it with X amount of water, or just feed the straight tea as you would water?
ashley says
Hi Mark,
We typically feed twice a week with the Terp tea. If brewing it, we use the straight tea instead of cutting it. If you want to know what’s going on in it like PPM, you can use a meter and determine if you should cut it depending on what age the plants are. Hope that helps! — Ryan at Fifth Season
William says
Do i stop using the bloom tea or do i feed all the way through flower?
ashley says
Hi William,
We recommend that you stop using it the last week of flower so you can flush the plants properly before harvesting. Cheers! –Ryan at Fifth Season Gardening

In regards to your suggestion about switching nutes as soon as you switch light schedule, I personally don’t agree. I have found that it’s better to continue regular veg feeding schedule but add a teaspoon per gallon of bloom with the veg for the first 10 days after light switch. That’s usually around the time you see hairs coming out and then I will change my feed schedule to 2 teaspoons of Bloom to 1 veg and always with the microbe Charge. And I will do this until week 4 gradually increase the bloom to 1 tablespoon per gallon and cut out the veg completely. Even though I’ve always been strict to use organic only, I also like to use General Hydroponic bloom, florablend, floranectar, diamond nectar and floramicro but only when my plants look hungry and I’ve just fed them a tea the day before. Sometimes you just have to listen to them and know when they look their best And how they respond to everything you do for them. I know the guys at GH and they will tell you that feeding them GH will not hurt the microbes in the soil. The trick is to keep the teas steady 2x week and that will always keep the soil lively. I’ve been growing for 30 years and I’ll have to say this combo I’m doing is straight Killing it. Regardless of what additional nutes you use, that method I mentioned above works really well for me.

Hi. Great topic, questions and answers.
Quick question after some background info.
I’m using Kis Soil water only with biochar. I reamend my soil with Kis nutrient pack, oly mountain compost and grandpa’s worm castings between harvests. Foliar feed ful-power and Bloom Koas. Water in DTE liquid Bone meal/recharge/mammoth P/Persephone’s Palate/ Hpk/Hp2 /Dark Energy & yucca (obviously not all of them the same time).
Do I still need to flush? like really flush a bunch of h2o through my 8 gallon pots?
I stop feeding anything the last week or so. My grow is on level 3 and water space to really flush w/o additive is on level 1. I’ve been doing the no flush method for a while and my product comes out great especially after a good cure. Just wondering if scientifically I’m screwing up somewhere by not flushing. Thanks in advance. You folks are awesome.
Alan b. says
With flushing you will lose quality and taste, one good heavy water 3_4 days before you cut down, flushing takes away everything that makes your grow,
your grow!

Hi fsg ! When using roots terp tea can I use Recharge and or fishsh!t and how would I add in to the line up?
brian says
Great Question! Yes, you can use in combination. The Fishsh!t and recharge are both just microbes so they don’t increase any kind of nutrients. I would recommend using once a week either on water or feeding day.
Robert says
Let me ask y’all is there a feeding schedule for indoor for the Terp tea line up ( TT grow bloom microbe ) thanks for everything either using as a dry or as a tea or using as both
Mr Morris says
Also one last question I’m sorry for bothering you but do I need a cal/mag if I’m using the TT grow bloom ,bloom booster and microbe charge
brian says
Thanks for your questions. We will try to answer both here. On the first, the feeding guidelines for these products are a bit less prescriptive than the way other manufacturers approach the question. In our own experience, we’ve had great results with 1-2 tsp/gal through bloom. But, really you have to take cues from your plants and adjust accordingly. Every grow has its own unique characteristics.
As for cal/mag. You should not need an additional nutrient if you are using the products you outlined! Good luck and keep us posted.
JeremiYah says
Is it ok to brew the Terp tea for 36hrs?
brian says
Generally 24 hours is the recommended time. 36 hours should work as well, but we wouldn’t recommend going much longer. Good luck!
José Mario R says
I have a doubt using the terp Tea grow, Example if I use 5grams per gallon and it gives me 140 ppm I can sibir the dose to reach a range of 300 or 400 ppm depending on the age of the plant vi in the package q is used from 5 to 15 grams per gallon if used more than 5 the range of ppm would go up
Macy says
If I am feeding 3 plants a terp tea how do I go about mixing and feeding it to them?
Would I mix 3-6 teaspoons roots organics nutrients into 3 gallons of water and make a compost tea from it? Then feed each plant 1 gallon of terp tea twice weekly?
What volume of terp tea is needed for each plant’s biweekly terp tea feeding?
brian says
Thanks for your question. We mix 1 TBS per gallon of water. Remember to let it “brew” overnight and to add aeration during that time. The amount of tea to give to each plant will vary by your conditions (container size, temperature, etc…). We recommend to use the Terp Tea twice a week and to simply water in as much as your plants needs at the time you are feeding. The concentration of the tea is the important aspect. The quantity of tea is variable. Hope this is clear!

Heres some knowledge on the terp teas . Ive used them for 3 years now .
Everyone know this you can use just the grow and bloom yes . But … but you will have to get some cal mag the cal mag runs out after 2 to 3 weeks so yeah in flower week 4 your gonna want to add extra cal mag .
Oh but if you want this stuff to work like lets say some of the bottles then you are gonna have to run the entire terp teas line.
This stuff is amazing but its alot of work . So for veg you gotta brew teas for 24 hours then in flower do 30 to 36 hours brewing make sure to keeep it kinda cool not too warm . So if your running a veg , flower and moms your gonna be brewing 4 to 5 days outta the week it’ll take a toll on you its alot of work if you have a family just a fyi terp teas are awesome . Oooh and you gotta remember if your plants say they take 8 weeks to flower …. it’ll be closer to the 9 1/2 weeks the organics takes a lil longer but just wait itll be worth it . top dressing this stuff is real strong dont do 1 tbs per gal dont do it itll be super strong so stuck to 1tsp per gallon. If your indoors…. environment is different just trust me!!!
Robert says
So I know it’s 1 tsp per gallon of soil when top dressing but when I make a tea is it per gallon of water or soil and when I switch to flower is it split 50/50 veg and bloom nute until week 4 then full bloom nute or as soon and it’s switch time just use bloom
brian says
Hi Robert: 1 tsp per gallon of water is the ratio we use. Here’s a link to the manufacturer’s feeding schedule. Of course, please feel free to adapt it to the progress of your plants. Also, this is titled for Dry usage, but the schedule is the same if you’re making a tea. Best of luck! https://www.aurorainnovations.com/dry-nutrient-feeding-schedule

Hi
Can I use Terp tea bloom and microcharge at same time as to dressing ?
Thanks
brian says
You can use Terp Tea and microcharge products together…though it probably isn’t necessary. The Terp Tea products already contain a beneficial bacteria load. Good luck!
Michael says
I used the Terp Tea as a top dress in my 10 gallon pots. I used 5 tsp in each 10 gallon pot. It seemed to have burned the plants and made the new growth curl. The directions say 1tsp/gallon of soil which would have been 10tsps/10gallon pot. Has anyone experienced this with Terp Tea Grow?
Ethan Gregory says
Can this be used in hydroponics set up and if so what would you mix in with a 10gallons of water for the grow and bloom
brian says
Thanks for the question. This product is designed to be used with growing media. So, for hydro it would not be recommended.
chris yoder says
A bit unclear on how much to use for tea?
Teaspoon or Tablespoon per gallon?
Thx
Chris
brian says
Hi Chris. The Tablespoon per gallon is for a dry “top dressing” on your soil or medium. The teaspoon is for a gallon that you’d mix in. Best of luck.
chris yoder says
What’s the difference between the bloom terp tea vs the bloom booster terp tea?
Week 4 of flower for booster tea? First few weeks of flower, use bloom term tea?
Is this about right?
Thanks again
Chris
chris yoder says
What happens when you feed your plants the booster tea a week or 2 too early?
Thanks again,
Chris
rance says
ok do i boil the water first or do i just use cold water with aerated for terp tea?
Chris says
What’s the difference between the bloom tea vs bloom booster tea?
Like when should you be using the booster? Week 3 or 4 of flower?
Thx
Chris
brian says
Hi Chris. Please take a look at the feeding schedules that Aurora Innovations publishes…that should answer most of your questions. It is available at https://www.aurorainnovations.com/roots-organics-feeding-schedule. You’ll note that there are sooo many products that they recommend you use. For us, yeah maybe there’s a bit more yield available, but with the core nutrients and maybe a few of the more targeted ones that you’ve asked about you should do well. No need to overcomplicate. Best of luck!

What’s the difference between terp tea grow and uprising grow?
brian says
Great question. Uprising Grow is a 6-1-2 dry nutrient. Typically it is used to amend soil &/or as a top dressing. Terp Tea Grow is 7-1-1 dry nutrient as well. While it can also be used similarly to how Uprising is, it is designed for being mixed with water and aerated to make “tea” for feeding. It is more soluble than Uprising. If you check the manufacturer’s website, the two share a similar ingredient list…likely at different ratios. So, in a nutshell, two similar but different products designed to promote vigorous vegetative growth. Hope this helps and thanks for reaching out!
