Product Review: Mammoth P – Get The Most From Your Grow

May 21, 2019 by fifthseason 23 Comments

-Gabrial House-

This week on the blog I wanted to talk about one of my favorite products on the market today, Mammoth P – the beneficial bacteria that packs a punch! Mammoth P is the only microbial inoculant that will help your plant uptake phosphorus, giving you a significant increase on your end harvest results. Mammoth P is a microbial inoculant that does exactly what it says it will do, and that’s organically increase your yields. It breaks down the phosphorus within your growing media, allowing the plant to uptake more of what counts when it comes to large yields.

Scientists at Colorado State University developed this product and Growcentia as an outgrowth of their research. The team at Growcentia was able to isolate a specific strain of bacteria to maximize growth where it counts:  in larger fruits and a more flavorful product. Mammoth P’s results have been independently verified by labs, and Colorado growers swear by this product. Having used Mammoth P myself for several years now, I can truly say it’s worth every penny!

Mammoth P is to be used from start to finish. It will aid in the propagation or germination process by coating and protecting the plant’s rhizosphere and shielding it from harmful pathogens. Many growers see increased root development by adding Mammoth P in the early stages of a plant’s life.

What I love about this product is its versatility. It will aid in plant health, fruit development, as well as overall quality of finished product. Mammoth P is safe for use in any media – whether it be soil, soilless, or a Hydroponic system, it can do it all. Plus it’s OMRI listed, so it’s safe for organic crop production!

Mammoth P is extremely concentrated. At a dilution rate of only .6ml per gallon, a 250ml bottle will treat up to 400 gallons of nutrient solution! Increasing your end results by 16% makes Mammoth P a no brainer when choosing to add it into your growing regimen. Take my word, once you start using Mammoth P you won’t stop!

What info are you looking for, specifically? Here’s the Mammoth P website for more general info, but let us know if there’s something particular we might be able to help with.

For the application rates, should I use Mammoth P with every watering or just once a week at the .6ml rate? I’m growing in soil, indoors.

Once a week should do the trick. Cheers!

Is Mammoth P good to use in germinating my seeds ?

Hi Tom, we’d actually recommend Roots Organics Oregonism XL for seeding, as it has lots of endo/ectomycorrhizal beneficial bacteria and trichoderma. Mammoth P is great for when your plants are larger and you are looking to increase plant yields.

    Hi Sean,

We add all nutrients and supplements first and then test/adjust our pH levels as necessary.

So I add my full mix, nutes, additives ect then ph my mix to need ph then add mammoth p.

We recommend adjusting the pH after everything else is added (including Mammoth P), because the pH could be altered as you add nutrients.

    Looking to try MAMMOTH P!

    Hi Jillian,
You can either sprinkle a small amount into the hole when seeding, or you can just mix in 1 tsp per gallon and wet your soil with the mix to become inoculated. Cheers!

If you are already using mycorrhizae, how fast does mammoth p start working or does it need acclimation? Thank you.

    Hi Gary,

Mammoth p is actually different microbes than any other on the market. They want you to use it from the beginning of veg through flower, but as long as you start using it by week 2 of flower, it will start working by the time your plants really need it. Cheers!

Is Mammoth P test or otherwise known to be beneficial to turf grass? If so, is the 1 tsp. per gallon mix rate still sufficient?

    Hi Tracy,
Absolutely it’s beneficial to turf grass. The microbes will increase nutrient uptake and increase the thickness of the turf. — Ryan at Fifth Season Gardening

Iv only just heard about mammoth p,
My plants are in the first week of veg. Is there any point adding mammoth now? Or is it too late?

That’s a great question. Here is information from the Manufacturer’s page: “MAMMOTH P is specifically designed to increase phosphorus availability during the bloom phase and should be used as a supplement to your regular fertilization program. Application during clone and vegetative phase will boost effectiveness.” Good to go!

Am I really supposed to use only .6 ml per gallon? That just seems like a crazy small amount? Or is it 6 ml per gallon?

    July 1, 2024 at 5:33 am

Thanks for your question. It really is 0.6 mL/gallon. A pipette or syringe makes this easy to do. Best of luck.

If I don’t use up my Mammoth P product within the first six months should I just throw it away?

Assuming that it was within date when opened, and stored in room temp conditions, per the manufacturer you have 1 year to use the contents. Best of luck!
