Looking for a delicious homemade gift to give your friends and family? This easy to make Coffee Liqueur is a simple and delicious way to show them how much they are loved. Similar to the Popular Kahlua or Tia Maria, this alcoholic coffee drink is simple to make at home with little effort. I’m going to walk you through the process I used in making my last batch of this delicious treat!
First, combine ½ Cups of Espresso Coffee Grounds and 3 Cups of water in a Quart Mason Jar (I used Cafe Bustelo, one of my favorite espresso coffee that is easy to find). I Cold brew the coffee for 12 Hours in the refrigerator, using a 100% Unbleached Cotton Straining bag. After a 12 hour brew, remove the bag and squeeze out as much coffee extract as possible.
Next, mix 1 Cup of Water and One Cup of Turbinado Sugar over low heat. Bring it just to a boil and let it cool at room temp. This makes a delicious syrup which thickens the liqueur.
The last step is mixing the syrup and the cold brew into one vessel. Make sure to use a funnel so you don’t spill a single drop of this yummy project.
Add ½ of your coffee extract together with one cup of the syrup. Add in one teaspoon of Vanilla Extract and 1c of Amber Rum. Taste for flavor and consistency. If needed, add some more of the coffee, extract, and/or Rum.
Serve chilled on its own as an aperitif, add some to your hot coffee, or mix furthur to create Black / White Russians or any other Cocktail recipe which calls for Kahlua.

I can’t indulge in sugar. Do you think this recipe might be okay made with stevia?

Yes, a substitute sweetener of your choice could be used, but you’d need to work out the amount based on the sweetener you choose.
