Die Mosquito, Die! (Or at least stay far away from me.)

May 31, 2016 by fifthseason 1 Comment

It is unbelievable, all the rain we have had this spring. Rainy weather means standing water, and standing water means mosquitoes, because that’s where mosquito larvae develop. Fortunately, there are effective natural ways you can prevent mosquitoes from ruining your good times outdoors.

Prevention is the best defense against a mosquito problem, so whenever and wherever possible, dump out any standing water near your home. Don’t forget to check the saucers under your container plants!

No matter how diligent you are, however, there will be some areas you can’t or don’t want to drain. For those places, you can use Mosquito Bits and Mosquito Dunks. Made from a naturally occurring soil bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis strain israelensis, or Bti) Mosquito Dunks and Mosquito Bits kill mosquito larvae before they can develop into biting adults.

Bti is an all-natural, biological control product, and it is non-toxic to humans, fish, birds, and pets. Not mosquito larvae though!

Mosquito Bits work fast – sprinkle them in drainage ditches, tree depressions, birdbaths, pond edges, etc. for a quick shock to existing larvae. Follow up with long-acting Dunks for up to 30 days of protection.

For any larvae that you can’t reach and then do develop into adult mosquitoes, you can ward them off with Amazon Lights mosquito repellant candles, incense cones, and insect sticks. Made from a blend of essential oils of Brazilian andiroba, citronella, rosemary and thyme, these really work to keep mosquitos away from your porch, deck, or picnic.

Amazon Lights products contain 300%-500% more essential oils then the majority of their competitors, and use andiroba oil sustainably sourced in partnership with local producers in the Amazon.

Summertime bugs don’t have to drive you inside. Reclaim and protect your space, naturally!

What I do not understand is how ALL incense, sticks, etc to repel mosquitoes are for the OUTSIDE and I guess NOT safe for the bedroom where they are really needed for a good nights sleep. We can send a rocket ship to Jupiter but can not keep a mosquitoes out of our bedroom with a net?
