This is a great class for anyone who is interested in growing mushrooms at home.
Laura Stewart, co-owner of Haw River Mushrooms, will walk you through the surprisingly simple process of drilling and plugging logs with mushroom spawn so you can cultivate your own tasty fungi. She’ll also go over how to care for your logs to ensure multiple bountiful harvests.
The $35 price of the class includes one pre-inoculated Oyster Mushroom Log (a $25 Value) to take home.
About the Instructor: Laura Stewart is the owner of Haw River Mushrooms, a family farm that provides fresh mushrooms to several triangle and triad chefs, and sells plug and grain spawn, and mushroom logs to farmers and home growers. They also produce and sell a Vegan Oyster Mushroom Jerky and a Lion’s Mane Crab Cake prepackaged for your enjoyment.
Laura is also an active mushroom forager and educator, teaching classes on edible mushrooms, log inoculation, and using mushrooms in the garden. She is also an instructor of the Wild Mushroom Safety Course, to certify mushroom foragers in seven states. You can learn more about her work here.
